Sustainability, innovation, energy, passion, commitment, cooperation, inclusiveness? The 2018 European Youth Capital Cascais in Portugal has all of these. The responsibility of a European Youth Capital is to not only produce quality youth projects but to highlight and promote the good practice of the organisations already there.

What makes Cascais unique is the passion of the locals for the Glocal world. Glocal is a term used to connect local issues with global issues, it’s the idea that to start to solve local issues we can find solutions to the global issues we all face as citizens of the world.

Glocal Youth for social transformation is a year long project that will focus on youth activities with the aim of making societal and environmental impacts on a Glocal level. The project is in 3 phases, the first which is already taking place is a training course for youth workers, trainers, EVS mentors and decision makers on the topic of Global education and the role of an EVS volunteer in that. The second phase is a 5 month EVS placement in Cascais where the volunteer will be active in all activities connected to the Youth Capital and engaging the local community. Then the third is a seminar to conclude the impact of the whole year and what is the next step. If your interested in spending 5 months volunteering in the Youth Capital of Europe contact .
