Conor on the Janus Project

Conor Sherry

My name is Conor Sherry I’m 23, and in April 2013 I began a 6 month internship with Momentum World that changed my life. Before my time with Momentum I was very withdrawn and lacked a lot of confidence in my abilities, I would always follow and never lead. I wasn’t very sure of what I wanted to do with my life and had no real drive or ambition to do anything. I was given the opportunity to help run and attend over 10 projects across the UK and Europe. I learned so much about myself and my abilities, Being given the chance to participate on these projects was one of the most eye opening experiences of my life, not only on a personal level but also learning about new cultures that I was previously unware really helped to broaden my horizons in ways not before thought possible. These opportunities taught me so much about myself such as my ability to lead a team. It also helped me to achieve things I never thought possible such as speaking to a conference of over 1000 people in Poland or pitching to the founder of the humanitarian charity MERLIN. My experiences on these projects opened my eyes to so many things from new food and drink from other cultures, to inspiring me to try new hobbies and develop new passions such as film making and photography. It also sparked my love of learning and my interest in current affairs and global issues. I currently live in Manchester and working for one of the biggest advertising agencies in the world. Literally none of this would be possible without the experiences and ongoing support I have received from Momentum World If there is anyone out there reading this right now unsure if they want to take part on one of these courses anywhere in world my advice would be just to go for it! It changed my life in so many ways and it can change yours too.
